For months I’ve been planning on building myself a new guitar cabinet with a set of speakers Johnny Milano’s dad said that I could have. I was planning on breaking open the smaller cabinets, gutting the insides, building myself a new frame, running the speakers and electronics the right way inside that new frame, finishing all of the wood real nice, putting a nice grill on the front, etc.
I finally went over John’s place to pick them up and found out that he wasn’t just giving me speakers like I originally thought and planned on, he was giving me an old guitar cabinet. His dad said he wasn’t sure if it still worked but I was more than welcome to do whatever I please with it.
I brought it home and decided to see if it worked. I popped my head on it and plugged everything in. Lo and behold the cabinet not only works, but sounds fucking GREAT. The low end chunk that this thing pumps out is incredible, and the highs cut so well without being grainy.
The only things I’m worried about is if the cab will be able to generate the power that I need it to without blowing out or dying on me, considering it’s so old. That and the fact that it only has two speakers in it as opposed to four kind of worries me, but I just cranked the shit out of it and it sounds so sick. It almost sounds better the heavier I play.
Stoked I acquired this so close to Punishment Due’s recording dates. If all goes well at practice on friday I might break this bad boy in at the show with Basement and Daylight this weekend.
Hell yeah.
